Forest L. 'Frosty' Coughenour

Forest L. "Frosty" Coughenour, 84, of Maxwell, died Sunday, December 3, 2006 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Frosty was born October 2, 1922 in New Albany Township, Story County, Iowa, the son of Leslie and Winifred (Veneman) Coughenour. He was united in marriage to Marge Hansen on March 8, 1947 in Nashua, Iowa. Marge preceded Frosty in death on September 4, 1993. He later married Dorothy Langcor on November 5, 2004 in Maxwell. Frosty was a milkman and delivered for several dairies. He retired from Roberts Dairy. Frosty served in the Army during WWII. He attended the Maxwell Brethren Church and was a member of the Maxwell VFW and American Legion.

Frosty loved to mushroom hunt and watch the Hawkeyes. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, sharing a good story, dancing to the Big Band music and eating at a good restaurant.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy of Maxwell; two daughters: Dana (Mike) Zeiser of Ankeny, IA, Norma Stigler of Omaha, NE; a son: Larry (Cathy) Coughenour of Wayzata, MN; 8 grandchildren: Katie Coughenour, Kevin Coughenour, Kelli Coughenour, Michael Zieser, Michelle Zieser, Josh Stigler, Karl Coughenour, Dustin Coughenour; 2 great grandchildren: Marina Zieser, Kyle Coughenour; 2 brothers: Vernon Coughenour of Maxwell, IA, Eddie Coughenour of Kingsley, IA; and 2 sisters: Annie Moss of Granger, IA and Arlene O'Hara of Long Beach, CA.

Frosty was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Marge; a son: Denny Coughenour and a sister, Katie.

Funeral services were 11:00 am Wednesday at the Maxwell Christian Church. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery at Iowa Center, IA.

Memorials may be made to the Frosty Coughenour Memorial Fund.

Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell is charge of arrangements.
