Eva Lettow, 93, of Ames and formerly of Alden, died Friday, Dec. 1, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Ames, with the Rev. Chuck Kelsey officiating. Inurnment will be in Alden Township Cemetery in Alden.

Harms was born Dec. 3, 1912, in Alden, the daughter of Henry Peters and Cena (Sweers) Harms. She graduated from Alden Community Schools and attended Iowa State College, where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She married Waldemar Otto "Spud" Lettow June 20, 1937, in Alden. She was a teacher and also did bookkeeping work. She was a member of Ames First United Methodist Church and a member of the church women's circle. She was a member of Ames Lioness Club and Ames Woman's Club. She received the International Lions' Melvin Jones award for her introduction and development of the Lioness organization in the state of Iowa.

She is survived by one daughter, Avis Pohl, of Ames; one son, Dennis Lettow and wife, Linda, of West Des Moines; five grandchildren, Bion Pohl, of Austin, Texas, Cena Crane and husband, William, of Brooklyn, N.Y., Greg Lettow and wife, Kristen, of Olathe, Kan., Julie Kosman and husband, Kyle, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jay Lettow, of Des Moines; and four great-grandchildren, Alden Crane, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Matthew Lettow, Paige Lettow and Joshua Lettow, all of Colorado Springs, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Cena Harms; her husband, Spud Lettow; three sisters, Gerta Baum, Alieda Palmer and Janett Barnum; and two brothers, Rudolph Harms and Richard Harms.

Linn's Funeral Homes, Alden Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
