THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Sunday, November 19, 2006.
Carolyn Marie Baird, 69, of Ames, died at her home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Collegiate United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Baird was born Dec. 30, 1936, in Bagley, the daughter of Orville and Mildred (Mays) Williams. She married Dr. William Baird May 9, 1984, in Stockton, Calif. Doc Baird was the love of her life. She attended Drake University in Des Moines. She worked at the Fort Dodge Lab and for the ISU Alumni Association, retiring in 1988. She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and the First United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge. She enjoyed traveling, loved her grandchildren, was an avid ISU fan and modeled for Olives.
She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia (Michael) Garrety, of Boxholm, and Diana K. (fiance, Robert Harmon) Van Gilder, of Ankeny; Bill's sons, Jim (Joyce) Baird, of Clive; and William "Biff" Baird, of Estes Park, Colo., brother, Rodney (Millie) Williams, of Quinlan, Texas; nephew, Mark Williams; grandchildren, Anthony (Shasta) Grieser, Adam Grieser, Tyler (Sherry) Grieser, Elizabeth, Allison, Bridger and Hayden Baird. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 24, 2002.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20 inAdams Funeral Home in Ames. Adams Funeral Home in Ames is in charge of arrangements.
