THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, November 18, 2006.

On Friday, Nov. 17, God chose to take Jacob Donald McDorman up to heaven.

Jacob's parents were Charles Ashby McDorman and Susan Walters. He was the youngest of 13 children and was born Aug. 3, 1915, in Burlington.

Much of his life, he lived in either Galesburg, Ill., or Burlington. He resided in Ames since 1976. On May 2, 1939, he married Esther Marie Eibes in Saint Patrick's Church in Burlington. During his long life he worked as a farmer, automobile salesman, garage mechanic and as an explosion expert at the Iowa Ordinance Plant where he helped construct the atomic bombs used in World War II.

All his brothers and sisters preceded him in death.

McDorman is survived by a son, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren, all residing in Ames.

Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:15 pm Saturday, Nov. 18, at Adams Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Ames Municipal Cemetery.
