John T. Gossard, 51, of Clear Lake, died Thursday of cancer at his home. Services were today at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel in Clear Lake, with the Rev Edward Bard officiating. Burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery. John T Gossard was born March 13, 1951, in Ames, the son of Thomas L O ands E Pauline "Polly" (Arney) Gossard. He graduated from Ames High School in 1969. He married Elizabeth Mullen June 8, 1974, in Waterloo. He attended Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, where he earned a degree in liberal arts and a human services certificate. He worked for Opportunity Village in Clear Lake. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Jennifer Gossard of Cedar Falls; and one sister, Margaret Story of West Lafayette, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be directed to the John Gossard Memorial Fund or to Opportunity Village in Clear Lake. Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel in Clear Lake is in charge of arrangements.
