Ames newspaper. Aug 10, 1874 - Feb 24, 1958 Daniel Lanning, 83, 209 Welch Ave., died about 8 a.m. today at his home. Death was attributed to a heart attack. He had been in failing health for the past six months. Born Aug 10, 1874 at Koszta, he came to Ames in 1920. He was employed by Iowa State College. He was a member of the Methodist Church, a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Eastern Star. He and Louise Olsen were married Sept 20, 1897 at Glenwood. She died August 23, 1956. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs Eva Robbins of Ames, a daughter-in-law Mrs Nina Lanning of Caracas, Venezuela, five grandchildren, Ervin Lanning of St Louis; Charles Lanning of Gainsville, Fla; Mrs Norman Cleary of Ames; Mrs John Rehl of Greenwich, Conn, and Delores Robbins of Ames; and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m from the chapel of the Adams Funeral Home. The Rev G. S. Nichols, pastor of the Collegiate Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Koszta Cemetery.
