William Taylor, 85, died Friday at 7:50 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Margaret Sherk, 1221 Ninth Street in Nevada with whom he made his home. Mr Taylor had been ill a year. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Adams Chapel here with the Rev David Ash of Nevada Methodist Church in charge. Burial will be in municipal cemetery. Mr Taylor was born on a farm two miles east of Ames July 11, 1869. He lived all his life in Story Coiunty. For many years Mr Taylor managed a livery stable in Ames. After that he took up farming and was a farmer until his retirement. He was married to Mellie Lanning Dec 4, 1898. She preceded him in death March 28, 1920. Survivors are two sons, Clay of Nevada, rural route and John W of Ames, rural route, two daughters, Mrs G. W (Elizabeth) Valine, Ames, rural route, and Mrs H. E (Margaret) Sherk, Nevada; a sister Mrs Harriet Chandler, The Dalles, Ore. Another daughter, Lydia White of Ames, died Nov 30, 1952. Two sisters and a brother preceded him in death as well. Mr Taylor was a Methodist.
