Margaret Picht, 78, of Ames, died Friday, Nov. 3, at Mary Greeley Medical Center.

Arrangements are pending with the Adams Funeral Home.

Margaret Marie Picht, 78, of Ames, died Nov. 3 at Mary Greeley Medical Center.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at Sheldahl United Methodist Church. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6 at Adams Funeral Home.

Margaret Marie Picht was born on Dec. 18, 1927, to Louis and Marie (Taylor) Buche. Picht graduated from Sheldahl High School and became a beauty operator in Slater before marrying Roy Picht Jr. on Jan. 10, 1953. To this union were born three daughters, Nancy, Cindy and Sandy.

Picht was active in the Sheldahl United Methodist Church including the UMW group. She was also active in the DAR, Ames Patriotic Council, the Red Cross and other volunteer activities. In her spare time, she enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together.

She is survived by her husband Roy; daughters, Cindy (Steve) Barrowcliff and Josh and Katie, of Ames, Sandy (Kent) Daugherty and Marcus and Shannon, of Kelly, son-in-law Ken Simmons and Nelson and Travis (Katie) and great-grandson, Tehmin, of Georgia; her brothers, James (Helen) Buche, of East Moline, Ill., Charles (Darlene) Buche, of Slater; sisters, Phyllis Martens of Huxley, Velma (Don) Reese of Slater; brother-in-laws, Larry Dutton, of Dunlap, Ill. and Ralph (Glennice) Picht, of Bella Vista, Ark.; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by he parents; sister, Irene Dutton; and daughter, Nancy.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Heart Association, the Cancer Society or her Church, Sheldahl United Methodist Church.

Adams Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
