Charles Clifton King

Charles Clifton "Cliff" King, 88 of Montour, formerly of rural Colo, died on Saturday, October 28, 2006 at the Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 3 at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth Street, Nevada Iowa. Burial will be in the Colo Cemetery. A luncheon will follow after the committal service at the Colo United Methodist Church in Colo.

Cliff was born on August 6, 1918 at home in Colo to Charles Ross and Blanche Elmetta (Flanigan) King. He was a 1935 graduate of Colo High School and attended Iowa State University. On October 9, 1937, Cliff married Marjorie Virginia Wilson in State Center. He was self employed as an electrician and farmer. Cliff was a member of Sons of the American Revolution, was a 4-H Leader, (4-H member while in high school) and attended the first Story County 4-H Fair. He enjoyed genealogy, word search books, watching TV (RFD channel) and loved talking to people.

Cliff is survived by 2 sons, Larry Wayne (Audrey) King of Montour and Richard Eugene (Marilyn) King of Marshalltown; a daughter, Karen (Robert) Sackett of Plymouth, Minnesota; a sister, Mary (Wayne) Thompson of West Des Moines; 6 grandchildren, John Sackett of Alcester, SD, Matthew Sackett of St. Bonfacius, MN, and Philip Sackett of New Brighton, MN, Joseph King and Michael King, both of Tama, and Ryan King of Montour; 4 great grandchildren, Dillon Sackett and Colton Sackett, both of Alcester, SD and Miranda Sackett and Braeden Sackett, both of St. Bonfacius, MN.
Cliff was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marjorie on September 6, 1993, and a sister Ruth King on April 18, 2005.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 2 from 5-7:00 P.M. at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.

A memorial fund has been established.
