Dec. 11, 1917-Oct. 19, 2006Dorothy Pearl Anderson, 88, of Ames, died Thursday, Oct. 19, at Israel Family Hospice House. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at First United Methodist Church in Ames, with the Rev. Chuck Kelsey officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens in Kankakee, Ill.
Dorothy Pearl Anderson was born Dec. 11, 1917, in Cedar County, Iowa, to Arthur and Pearl (Rochholz) Baer. She had lived in Kankakee, Ill., and had been an Ames resident since 1989. She was a graduate of Iowa State College in 1940 and was a member of the honorary art fraternity, Delta Phi Delta.
She married Floyd W. Anderson June 5, 1941, in Tipton. She was a homemaker, a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, Illinois Home Extension Program and school organizations in Kankakee, Ill., and a member of First United Methodist Church in Ames.
She is survived by two sons, Duane (Barbara Walsh) Anderson, of Grover Beach, Calif., and Kenneth (Judie) Anderson, of Mansfield, Mass.; one daughter, Kathleen (Michael) Walczak, of Fairport, N.Y.; one brother, Lewis (Avalon) Baer, of Ames; four grandchildren, Nathanaël Anderson, Chantal (Jeremy) Prouse, Eric Anderson and Philippe (Geniève) Anderson; and one great-granddaughter, Molly Prouse.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, in 1961, and one sister, Eloise Smith.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at First United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church of Ames, Iowa State University Alumni Association or Israel Family Hospice House.
