Oct. 14, 1936-Oct. 19, 2006Ileen Ruth Wolters, 70, of Ames, died Thursday, Oct. 19, at Israel Family Hospice House. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at Bethesda Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Randy Gehring officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Meservey Cemetery
Ileen Ruth Wolters was born Oct. 14, 1936, in Belmond, to Harlan and Pearl (Johnson) Johnson. She had lived in Sheffield and Mason City and was an Ames resident since 1961.
She married Larry Wolters June 25, 1961, in Sheffield. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church and the Ames Breakfast Lions Club. She helped with Bethesda's Scandinavian Coffee and served on the Friendship Committee. She enjoyed cooking, but her main interest was her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Larry; two sons, Jeff (Ann), of Lebanon, N.J., and Kevin (Cindy), of Clinton, Okla.; one brother, Harley Johnson; five grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Katelyn, Emily, Bryce and Blake; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, at Bethesda Lutheran Church.
Memorials may be directed to Bethesda Lutheran Church, Mary Greeley Foundation or Israel Family Hospice House.
Adams Funeral Home in Ames is in charge of arrangements.
