Mavis Kilstrom
Mavis Kilstrom, 89, of Marshalltown and formerly of Ames, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Marshalltown. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, in Story Memorial Garden Cemetery, with Rev. Larry Vallery of Ames First United Methodist Church officiating.

Mavis Kilstrom was born in Bottineau, N.D., to Edward and Ruth (Smith) Berg. She married Roy Kilstrom Feb. 4, 1937, in Rockport, Mo. She was employed by Bourns Lab and worked at the ordinance plant from 1943-44. She retired in 1981. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, sewing and baking.

She is survived by two sons, Charles (Dorothy) Kilstrom, of Rhodes, and Ralph Kilstrom, of Boyce, La.; one daughter, Elaine (Greg) Casey, of Austin, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Scott, Todd and Derek Kilstrom, Rochelle and Kylee Kilstrom, Steve and Dionna Kilstrom, Matthew and Luke Ashburn and Teresa Anderson and Ben Casey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; one son, Bruce Kilstrom; one daughter, Norma Jean Kilstrom; three brothers; and one sister.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at Adams Funeral Home.
