Lenard Liming, 82, of Ames, died Tuesday, Oct. 17. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames.Lenard Liming was born Feb. 5, 1924, at University Park, Iowa, the son of Rev. Clifford and Anice (Reed) Liming. He attended several schools through the years and graduated from Radcliffe High School with the class of 1942. He entered the U.S. Army on May 6, 1943, and was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas, Fort Jackson, S.C., and Fort Bragg, N.C., before going overseas. He then was stationed in Hawaii and the Philippines. Lenard was honorably discharged Feb. 26, 1946, and proud to be a veteran.
Lenard and Donna Lindebak were married July 11, 1944. They both attended the Americana Beauty School, and he went on to barber school in Sioux City. Upon completion, they were both employed in Ames, where they made their home since 1949. Lenard's last 12 years of employment were with the Environmental Health and Safety Department at Iowa State University. He retired in 1987.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Linda (Robert Stomp) Fullmer and Susan (Bob) Ratliff; six grandchildren, Brooke, Celia and Hilary Fullmer, Chris Ratliff, Joe Wilson and Scott Ratliff; three sisters-in-law, Colleen Liming, Burnette Liming and Florence Topp; and two brothers-in-law, Arnold Skartvedt and Bud (Marge) Maakestad.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lawrence and Delbert; and one sister, Eleanor Rex.
