Elsie Ellingson

Elsie A. Ellingson, 87, of Story City, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006, at Bethany Manor in Story City of a massive stroke. Funeral services were held on Friday, Sept. 29 at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial was in the Story City Cemetery.

Elsie A. Ellingson was born on Sept. 16, 1919 in Story City to Olaf and Nora (Amlund) Townswick. She graduated from Story City High School in May of 1937. She married Kenneth "Bud" Handeland in 1937 in Fort Dodge. She lived in Fernald from 1975 to 2005. She married Lowell Ellingson on April 25, 1985 at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg. She lived in Story City the last year of her life. She was a homemaker/housewife who loved to cook, bake, doing crafts and making quilts. She was a member of the St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City.

She is survived by one sister, Margaret (Emmet) Peter, of Story City; two sister-in-laws, Margaret Townswick of Vacaville, Calif. and Norma Gandrup of Ames; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one sister and three brothers.

The Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing was in charge of the arrangements.
