Everett Alderman was the grandson of Silas Pritton & Mary Jane (Ellison) Alderman and great-grandson of Hezekiah Brink & Rhoda (Horseman) Alderman. Three generations of this family are buried in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery, Block 22 Rows 9 & 11, Nevada, Story Co., IA.

Nov. 14, 1902 - May 7, 1997

Everett Alderman, 94, of Scott Township, Penn. died Wednesday of cancer at the Asbury Heights Nursing Home in Mt. Lebanon, Penn. Graveside services at at 10 a.m. Monday at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery, withthe Rev. Tom Poppe officiating.

Everett Alderman was born in Walker, the son of A. Bruce and Gertrude V. (Welty) Alderman. Mr. Alderman graduated from Nevada High School in 1921. He received a bachelor's degree in 1929, a master's degree in 1932 and a doctorate in education in 1938, all from the University of Pittsburgh School of Education. Mr. Alderman also attended Harvard University. He married Marthe Benzon. Mr. Alderman was the vice principal of adult education with the Pittsburgh Public Schools and was later a psychology professor at Penn State University. He retired in 1969. He was a member of the Fellow of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association and the professional fraternities Kappa Phi Kappa, Pi Sigma Alpha and Phi Delta Kappa. Mr. Alderman was a resident of Pennsylvania for the past 50 years, moving there from Iowa. Mr. Alderman was preceded in death by his wife.

Memorial contributions may be made to the UNI Foundation, 205 Commons, Cedar Falls 50614. The Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada is in charge of arrangements.
