LAST RITES HELD ON THURSDAY FOR DAVID SOWERS, 87

Funeral services for David Sowers, whose death occurred Tuesday at his home, 1816 Fourth street, were held from the Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada, Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. C.E. Lookingbill officiating.

Organ music was played at the opening and close of the service. The casket bearers were Frank Arnett, Dan Bader, Ervin Bushman, William Fuss, D.V. Jordan and C.T. Lock. Burial was in the Neveda cemetery.

The following brief life story was read at the funeral Thursday.

David Sowers was born Feb. 17, 1868, a son of John and Margaret Sowers in Bremer County, Iowa. As a small boy he came with his parents to Story County, Iowa, which has been his home except for 2 years spent in Adair County and 12 years in Kansas.

He was married on Sept. 18, 1912 to Anna Manifee in Nevada, Iowa. To this union was born one son, Marcellus.

Surviving are the wife, son, daughter-in-law, one grand-daughter Kathleen Sowers, one brother James Sowers of Fernald. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters.

David Sowers was one of Neveda's most highly respected citizens and leaves a host of friends to mourn his passing.
