WILMA "BILLIE" DRUMMOND

Ames

Wilma "Billie" Drummond 86, died July 24, 2006 at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at United Church of Christ - Congregational with the Rev. Steve McDuff officiating.

Burial will follow at the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Billie was born September 8, 1919, in Brightwood, Oregon to Howard Lester and Eva Ruth (Hart) Wood. Billie was an Ames resident since 1943. She graduated from high school and attended business school for two years. She worked as a bookkeeper for Dr. Roy Drummond.

Billie married Roy Drummond, May 30, 1941. She was a member of United Church of Christ – Congregational, Ames and Emanon. She served as a Camp Fire Leader and Scout Den mother. During WW II Billie was a nurses aid at Mary Greeley Hospital.

She enjoyed gardening, knitting, stitchery, fishing and making gifts for her family. She loved to travel.

Billie is survived by her husband, Roy; daughter, Kathie Drummond of Ames; son, Jim (Lesa) Drummond of Jewell; three grandchildren, Nichelle (Shane) Drummond-Hall of Roland, DeAnne (Mark) Drummond- Hoefer of Jewell, David (Carla) Preston of Ankeny; two great-grandchildren, Madison Hall and Carl Preston; brother, Glen Lewis of Maupin, Oregon.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one brother, one great-grandson, Elijah Hall.

Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 31 at Adams Funeral Home with family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
