THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, June 28, 2006.

Velda Jeanette Haugsted, 95, of Nevada, died Sunday, June 25, at Story County Medical Center in Nevada. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 29, at First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ with Pastor Brice Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Velda was born on Nov. 11, 1910, in rural Nevada to Lars and Laura (Nelson) Haugsted. She was a graduate of Nevada High School. She was employed as a cashier at Nevada National Bank. She was a lifelong resident of Story County. She was a member of First Christian Church in Nevada. She loved being with her nieces and nephews, researching genealogy, gardening, crocheting and watching basketball.

She is survived by two brothers, Bill Haugsted, of Nevada, and Clarence (Rose) Haugsted, of Ames; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Beulah McConnell and Hazel Jacobson.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
