THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, June 24, 2006.

Jayne Ann Nelson, 56, of Roland, died Friday, June 23, as a result of a car accident south of Roland. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland. Burial will be in Roland Cemetery.

Jayne was born May 29, 1950, in Fort Dodge to Melvin and Clarise (Kvale) Minikis. She married David Nelson Aug. 15, 1970, in Thor. She worked as a secretary for the Gary Thompson Oil Company and was a member of Bergen Lutheran Church, where she served as church treasurer for over 25 years. She enjoyed family, her grandchildren, friends, camping, her house and landscaping.

She is survived by her husband, David, of Roland; two sons, Cory (Brandi), of Ellsworth, and Chris (Brenda), of Story City; one daughter, Megan (Grant) Tjernagel, of Ankeny; two grandchildren, Jadyn and Kelsey; her mother and stepfather, Clarise and Andrew Johnson, of Wells, Minn.; one brother, Larry Minikis (Janis), of Thor; and one sister, Lisa Proehl, of Minnesota Lake, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Miniks; and one grandson, Carter David Nelson.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 26, at Bergen Lutheran Church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name.

Soderstrum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
