THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, June 24, 2006.

Clare Lou (Mahn) Samson, 71, of Nevada, died Friday, June 23, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, at First United Methodist Church in Nevada with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Clare was born May 23, 1935, in Manly, the daughter of Lyle and Zola (Carmody) Mahn. She married Glen Samson Nov. 17, 1952, in Story City. She worked alongside her husband for more than 35 years as bookkeeper in the S&M Appliance Store in Nevada. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Nevada. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren. Her hobbies include gardening, flowers, genealogy, wildlife and fishing.

She is survived by her husband, Glen, of Nevada; one daughter, Denette (Brian) Bovey, of Boone; three sons, Curtis (Theresa) Samson, of Ames, Keith Samson, of Nevada, and Tim (Julie) Samson, of Boone; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Jerry (Jean) Mahn, of Florida; and two sisters, Marlene DeSantis, of Florida, and Pat Shineflew, of Iowa Falls.

Visitation with the family will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, June 26, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Nevada.
