THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, June 24, 2006.

Fay E. Olson, 101, of Ames, died Thursday, June 22, at the Israel Family Hospice House.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 25, at Campus Baptist Church with Pastors Jack Dowden and Will Hatfield officiating.

Fay was born on Aug. 13, 1904, in Boone, to Vestal and Jennie (Wilson) Hannum. During her life, she lived in Boone, Story City and later in Ames. She graduated high school and enrolled in Normal School to receive her teaching certificate.

She taught for six years before becoming a cook in Friley Hall at Iowa State University.

Fay married R. Earl Olson on June 4, 1929, in Boone County. She was a member of Campus Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and creating mosaic artwork.

Fay is survived by two daughters, Donna Olson, of Ames, and Nancy (Jack) Dowden, of Burton, Mich.; one cousin, Marjorie Woolhiser; five grandchildren, Mark Dowden, LuAnne England, Todd Dowden, Kurt Dowden and Troy Dowden; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; two sisters; and her husband, Earl.

A visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to Missions of Campus Baptist Church.

Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
