Iva Marian (Norman) Robinson, 105, of Santa Cruz, Calif., died Friday, April 28, at her home. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 17, in the Helser Chapel at Collegiate Presbyterian Church in Ames.

Iva Marian (Norman) Robinson was born Feb. 10, 1901, in Lucas County to Lucy Redlingshafer Norman and John Wilson Norman. She was the third of six children; her siblings are Twila Ververka, Helen Nickolson, Hugh Norman, John Norman and Nellie Diehl. She attended Wren Hill Country School through eighth grade and graduated from Chariton High School in 1920. She graduated from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and taught for five years in rural schools, finishing her last year in West Waterloo Elementary School.

In 1926, she married Pierre Gain Robinson, a mathematics professor at Iowa State University. They made their home near the campus for 47 years and raised two children, Rosalie and Norman. She was active in Collegiate Presbyterian Church, the Iowa State Faculty Women's Club and her children's school PTAs. After her husband's death in 1973, she moved to Santa Cruz, where she continued her passion for flower gardening and enjoyed watching Norman's children grow.

She leaves her daughter, Rosalie Smith, and son-in-law, Marvin Smith, of Frederick, Md.; and her son, Norman Robinson, and daughter-in-law, Marietta Robinson, of Santa Cruz. She also leaves eight grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by grandson David Scott Robinson.

And so thank you, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, for the wonderful love, steadfast hope and everlasting faith you expressed daily to each of us by a warm, welcome optimistic smile and transparent countenance. These things shall remain in our hearts and continue to grow even as your magnificent fern thrived in its corner under your watchful care. God speed and God bless you as you continue in the way that has been prepared for you.
