THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, April 26, 2006.

Karl "Red" Clark Jr., 80, of Ames, died Monday, April 24, at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Memorial Services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, April 28, at Gilbert Lutheran Church with the Rev. Thomas Prochnow officiating.

Karl was born Sept. 4, 1925, in Ames to Karl and Agnes (Dalrymple) Clark. He grew up on a farm east of Ames, attended North Grant School and graduated from Ames High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and then attended Iowa State University. He married Karine Overland Feb. 23, 1950. He was a lifetime home builder in the Ames area. He was a 60-year member of the American Legion. He took great joy in his grandchildren and family. He also enjoyed attending the Iowa State Fair, fishing, antique tractors and traveling.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Karine; six sons, Karl III of Ames, Mike of Park City, Utah, Steve of Ames, Gunnar of Sonora, Calif., Jerry (Mary) of Ames and Rob (Carrie) of Ames; nine grandchildren, Michael (Kira), Tammy (Jerry) Riordan, Crystal (Robert) Carbajal, Sarah, Dan, Mitch, Deanna, Katie and Josh; two great-grandchildren, Christian Jones and Cooper Clark; one brother, Russel Clark of Blue Springs, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, George.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gilbert Education Foundation or ARC of Story County.

Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
