THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, April 14, 2006.

Charles Samuel Carmean II, 62, of Coatesville, Ind., died Wednesday, April 12, at Hendricks Regional Hospital in Danville, Ind. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 18, at Bethesda Lutheran Church with the Rev. Randy Gehring officiating. Sam was born March 14, 1944, in Council Bluffs to Charles Samuel and Elva (Erickson) Carmean. He was a graduate of Ames High School. He worked for environmental systems at Iowa State University and spent his last six years at Custom Upholstery by Houge. He served in the U.S. Army, serving in both Korea and Vietnam. He married Arla Anderson April 23, 1966. He was a member of Ames Moose Lodge No. 520 and the Oaks Golf Course. He enjoyed his family, friends, golfing and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Arla Carmean of Coatesville, Ind.; his parents, Charles Samuel (Bill) and Elva Carmean of Ames; two daughters, Tara (Brett) Wangen of Westfield, Ind., and Tamra Carmean and best friend Doug Kucera of Chicago; two sisters, Carol (Curt) Houge of Ames and Jennifer (Bob) Thomsen of Littleton, Colo.; and three grandchildren, Tyler, Cody and Ava Wangen. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, April 17, at Adams Funeral Home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family or Moose Lodge No. 520 for the Kids Room.
