THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, April 13, 2006.
Genevieve H. Zenor, 88, Ames, died Tuesday, April 11, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 17, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Ames with Father Terry Rassmussen presiding. The body will be cremated after the service.
Genevieve was born Aug. 27, 1917, in Cumming to Frank and Laura Glynn. She graduated from North High School in Des Moines. She married Jack M. Zenor Feb. 5, 1942. They owned and operated Zenor Motor Company in Mason City for more than 30 years. She moved to Ames in 1978.
She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, St. Gertrude Circle and volunteered at Heartland Senior Center. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, caning furniture and playing Canasta. She had a terrific sense of humor and a selfless personality and will be greatly missed by many good friends, neighbors and her family.
She is survived by two sons, James (Sharon) Zenor of Ames and Timothy (Fran) Zenor of Des Moines; two grandchildren, Michael Zenor of Moberly, Mo., and Jacqueline (Brian) Lund of Broken Arrow, Okla.; one great-granddaughter, Alexis Lund; one brother, Fred (Dottie) Glynn of Des Moines; and one sister, Dorothy Owens of Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Thomas; three brothers and one sister.
A visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 16, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.
