Marie was born in McCallsburg, Iowa, to Sam and Sadie Sampson and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. All of her grandparents came from Norway. She attended school near Colo for several years, then moved with her parents and seven brothers and sisters to a farm near McCallsburg, and eventually moved into town during the depression. Marie married Donald Miller, bore six children: Dolores, Timothy, Daniel, Sanford, Lynn and David, and they settled in Fernald. In 1959 she and her family moved to California, and, through the ensuing years, moved to many other California locales thereafter, finally ending up near Oroville. Marie enjoyed drawing and painting and was an excellent cook. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, son Dan, and siblings Ora, Edna, Arlotte, Shurden, Joyce, and James. Marie is survived by brother Jesse, her remaining children, 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was proud of her Iowa heritage, and was devoted to her family.
