THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, March 1, 2006.

Grant Ward, 21, of 614 Billy Sunday Road in Ames and formerly of Boone, died Sunday, Feb. 26, of injuries from a truck accident near Fraser in Boone County. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 2, at Cornerstone Church in Ames, located at U.S. Highway 30 and Interstate 35, with the Rev. Jeff Dodge officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

Grant Eli Ward was born Jan. 4, 1985, in Boone, the son of Brad and Lynette (Blankenship) Ward. He played Little League baseball and basketball, but football was what he loved playing the most. He graduated from Boone High School in 2003 and attended DMACC in Boone. For the past year, he was a logistics supervisor for MG Biologics in Ames.

He loved animals, his friends, family and the Lord Jesus. He had a special connection with children and elderly people. They adored him. He had a smile that would melt your heart. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his parents, Brad Ward of Boone and Lynette Farnham of Ames; one brother, Tyler Ward of Layton, Utah; one sister, Jill Stilwell and husband, Todd of West Des Moines; one nephew, James Stilwell; and one niece, Kya Stilwell.

He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Friends may call from noon until time of service Thursday, March 2, at Cornerstone Church in Ames.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Cornerstone Church of Ames for Boone Outreach.

Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall streets in Boone is in charge of arrangements.
