THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, March 1, 2006.

Joseph Brandon Bravard, 21, of 1627 Clinton Street in Boone, died Sunday, Feb. 26, of injuries from a truck accident near Fraser in Boone County. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 3, at Church of the Open Bible in Boone, with the Rev. Phil Waldo officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

Joe was born Dec. 28, 1984, in Boone, the son of Kenneth and Denise (Doolittle) Bravard. He graduated from Boone High School in 2003. He attended Eugene Bible College in Eugene, Ore., and DMACC in Boone. He was a construction worker.

He asked Jesus into his heart at the young age of four, and at the age of 10, he chose to be baptized. He was a faithful companion to his dog, Jackson; a friend to many; a giver of cherished hugs to his grandmother; and best friend to Ben, Elisabeth and Kristin. He was the joy and life of his parents, who deeply love him. He enjoyed playing baseball, basketball and football in high school, and he enjoyed playing the guitar and harmonica.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Duane Doolittle, Willis Mills and Everett and Dorothy Bravard.

He is survived by his parents, Ken and Denise of Boone; one brother, Ben Bravard and his wife, Kristin; and one sister, Lis Bravard, all of Boone; his grandmothers, Berva Mills of Boone and Ella Bravard of Alta; aunts and uncles, Jerry and Linda Bravard of Boone, Lynda and Tom Hartmann of Grand Forks, N.D., Marlys Bravard of Boone, Deborah and John Williams of Waldorf, Md., Penny and Duane Diamond of Cherokee, and Joyce and Jim Safly of Boone; and several cousins.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 2, at Church of the Open Bible in Boone, at which time the family will be present. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday, March 3, at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family to be used at its discretion.

Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone is in charge of arrangements.
