Trent Knutson, 19, of 2204 228th Place in rural Boone, died Sunday, Feb. 26, of injuries from a truck accident near Fraser in Boone County. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 2, at Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone with the Rev. Dick Dahle officiating. Following the service, the body will be cremated.
Trent Louis Knutson was born March 16, 1986, in Ames, the son of Mark and Nancy (Stroberg) Knutson. He attended United Community Grade School and graduated from Boone High School in 2004. He played football and basketball in high school and was named All-District tight end for football during his senior year. In earlier years, he was a member of the Cubs Little League team. During high school, he worked at the West Ames Hy-Vee. He then worked at Hansen Sinclair in Ames, and then was a stockman at Orscheln Farm and Home Supply in Boone for 11 months. He was presently employed at Sauer-Danfoss Manufacturing in Ames in hydraulic transmission assembly.
He was a free spirit with a big smile. He enjoyed listening to country and western music, making pottery and riding anything on wheels. He loved playing football and basketball, playing with his dog, Butch, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his parents, Mark and Nancy of rural Boone; one brother, Travis of Iowa City; two sisters, Marny Knutson of Camdenton, Mo., and Carrie Knutson and companion, Jennifer Fain, both of Ankeny; his godparents, Carol and David Stroberg of Osage; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Erling and Dorothy Knutson and Louis and Winona Stroberg.
Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. to time of service Thursday at Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone.
Memorials may be given to MADD and the Boone Area Humane Society.
