WILLIAM ARRASMITH
William Arrasmith was born in Bath county, Kentucky, November 30th, 1828, and departed this life December 19th, 1908, being 80 years and 19 days old. Mr. Arrasmith with his parents moved from Kentucky to Fountain county, Indiana, when he was but three years old, from thence to Putman county and then to Clay county, Indiana. He was united in marriage to Alvina Grove, March 4th, 1852. On the 29th day of that month they departed for Iowa and arrived here on the 6th of May, locating temporarily on the Des Moines river near where the town of Madrid is now located.
During the following August they moved onto their farm located 4 miles north of Ames, where they resided until the year 1900 when they removed to this city where they made their home, until last April when on account of declining health he was taken to the home of his daughter Mrs. Ida Swearingen where he could be more properly cared for in his declining health. Deceased leaves a wife and 11 children all of whom were present at the funeral. He also left three brothers and two sisters with many friends and distant relatives, to mourn his loss.
The funeral services were conducted yesterday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock Rev. J. T. Houser of the Christian church conducting the services. Interment was made in the Ames cemetery.
