THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, January 13, 2006.

Arnold L. Haugland, 92, of Story City, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial will be in Story City Cemetery.

Arnold was born Sept. 24, 1913, in Story City to Rangvold and Anna (Sampson) Haugland. He married Alice Mae Thompson Dec. 16, 1936. She died Nov. 16, 1991.

He is survived by four daughters, Patricia Cirksena (Donald) of Des Moines, Margaret Tjaden of Urbandale, Cynthia Williamson of Nevada and Kathleen Tichenor (Dennis) of Nevada; 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Elizabeth Buck, three sisters; and one brother.

Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
