NEVADA JOURNAL, Nevada, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, January 5, 2006.

John Evan Rardin, 50 of Story City, formerly of Nevada died of a fatal gunshot wound while vacationing in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. The body has been cremated and there will be no services.

John was born on July 9, 1955 in Culbertson, Nebraska to Kenneth and Nellie (Sinclair) Rardin. He received his degree in engineering in 1984 from Hawkeye Tech College in Waterloo. Due to an injury, he retired early from the DOT as a civil engineer. John was a resident of Nevada prior to moving to Story City 3 years ago. He was a member of numerous fishing clubs. He was passionate about fishing and loved spending time with his grandson, Kaden.

John is survived by his daughter, Andrea J. Carsrud of Ames; a son, Matthew Rardin of Slater;
Vickie Rardin of Waterloo; and a grandson, Kaden Main.

John was preceded in death by his father.
