THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, January 3, 2006.
Delmore Olson, 92, of Ames died Sunday, Jan. 1, at Green Hills Care Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ames. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Delmore was born April 4, 1913, in Norman, Neb., to Hilma (Anderson) and Arthur Olson. He received a drafting/engineering certificate from the University of Nebraska and spent more than 25 years at the Omaha Public Power District. He married Ruth Grabenstein April 20, 1941, and they resided in Omaha for 42 years before moving to Ames in 1986 to be near family. He and Ruth were members of St. Paul Lutheran Church, and he was an active member of the Golden K Kiwanis.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two daughters, Linda (Tom Hensley) of Ames and Susen (William Buckendorf) of Springfield, Va.; five grandchildren, Tonya (Hensley) Mallozzi of Kansas City, Tara (Hensley) Vandermark of Spring, Texas, Tanner Hensley of Ames, William Buckendorf of New York City and Kurt Buckendorf of Jacksonville, Fla.; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harold Olson of Minden, Neb., Hubert Olson of Minden, Neb., and Roland Olson of Omaha, Neb., and 26 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at Stevens Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ames.
