THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, December 24, 2005.

The funeral for Marvin Ray Nelson, 80, of Charter House in Rochester, Minn., will be Tuesday, Dec. 27, in Nevada Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada with the Rev. Eric Finsand officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Cemetery.

Mr. Nelson died Thursday, Dec. 22, in Methodist Hospital in Rochester. He died of complications of acute leukemia.

He was born March 5, 1925, in Pemberton, Minn. He was reared and farmed in Iowa. He attended Shipley High School in Shipley. On March 14, 1948, he married IvaBelle Guess in Lake City. He was a farmer. He and his wife wintered in Arizona for many years. He was a member of the NFO, the VFW, a Chatfield-St. Charles bowling league, Moose Lodge and Charter House pool club. He enjoyed playing cribbage.

Survivors include one son, Stephen (Beverly) of Spring Grove, Minn.; two daughters, Cynthia (Chris) Brewer of Carrollton, Texas and Marilyn (James) McKeehen of Champlin, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, on Oct. 3, 2004, one grandson and one
brother.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 26, at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield, Minn. and one hour prior to the service.
