ELMER JORSTAD

Elmer Jesse Jorstad, 78, McCallsburg, died Friday, Aug. 14, at Bethany Manor Nursing Home, Story City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Bethany Lutheran Church, McCallsburg, with the Rev. Oliver Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Warren Township Cemetery, McCallsburg.

Elmer Jorstad was born Nov. 30, 1908, to Carl and Dora (Olson) Jorstad. He had been a farmer, and had worked at the Atomic Research Center, and as a lab technician at the Veterinary Clinic at Iowa State University.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys of McCallsburg; one son, Van Jorstad of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two stepsons, Roland Weigel of Story City, and Roger Weigel of Green Mountain Falls, Colo; one stepdaughter, Karol Fitzgerald of Seward, Neb.; two brothers, Otis Jorstad of McCallsburg, and Myron Jorstad of Eagle Grove; four sisters, Edna Billings of Long Beach, Calif., Lillian Jorstad of Phoenix, Ariz., Erma Lantz of Corona, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one grandson, and one great-grandson.

Visitation will be today, Monday, Aug. 17, until time of service at Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home, Story City, with the family present 6:30-8 p.m.
