Funeral Services Held Here Wednesday for J. W. Kopf
Funeral rites for J. W. Kopf, 67, who died at his farm home south of Nevada Sunday afternoon, were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Nevada Evangelical church, with his pastor Rev. Theo Yackel in charge. Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.
A group of old time neighbors and friends served as pallbearers, and two songs were sung during the services by Misses Hope Thompson and Margaret King.
The services were attended by a large concourse of relatives and old neighbors and friends, and the floral offerings were very beautiful.
Will Kopf was a man well and most favorably known especially in that part of Story county where he had lived the greater part of his lifetime and friends join with members of the family in mourning his passing.
"John William Kopf, son of Ludwig and Isabel Kopf, was born on Jan. 17, 1874, at Farrar, Ia., and passed away on Dec. 14, 1941, at the age of 67 years, 10 months and 14 days, at his farm home southeast of Nevada, having lived in this community all his life. He was the last surviving member of his family, two sisters and one brother preceding him in death.
"John W. Kopf was united in marriage to Blanche E. Densmore on Oct. 20, 1896. Seven children came to bless this union, one of whom died in infancy. On Sept. 29, 1938, he as left a widower by the death of his wife.
On Feb. 2, 1941, he was again married being united in marriage to Christina Williams, who survives he sudden passing.
He was a devoted husband, a loving father and a highly respected neighbor and friend. In his passing the community sustained a real loss. He was a member of the Evangelical church for many years.
"He leaves to mourn his passing besides his wife, six children, Lyle of Maxwell, Mrs. Leota Monson of Des Moines, Russell of Waterloo, Mrs. Velda Johnson of Story City, William E. of Chanute Field, Ill., and Robert at home. Also four grandchildren, other relatives and many friends."
