Funeral Services for Palmer Halverson

Huxley, June 12--Funeral services for Palmer Halverson, 10-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Halverson, who passed away at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines Thursday morning, were held at the Palestine church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 following a prayer service at the home at 1:30.

The church was filled to its utmost capacity when relatives, friends and neighbors gathered to extend their sympathy to the bereaved family. The many beautiful floral offerings were arranged by Mrs. T. H. Mason, Mrs. W. R. Richardson, Mrs. Henry Larson, Beulah Lande, Elizabeth Maland and Wanda Tjelland. There were also gifts to the Beloit Orphans' Home and branches of the missions, given in memory of the young boy.

Special music was furnished by Mrs. H. E. Jacobson and Miss Gladys Rullestad, who sang two duets, "Safe In The Arms of Jesus" and "I Think When I Read That Sweet Story of Old" and Robert Larson sang a solo "Asleep in Jesus." Rev. Jacobson chose for his txt the 16th verse in the fourth chapter of the Second Book of Kings. Twelve classmates served as active and honorary pallbearers, Sheldon Lee, LaVern Thompson, Owen John Kalsem, Otto Ringgenberg, Donald Schonhorst, Donald Anderson, John Apland, Wesley Hill, Paul Jacobson, Junior Twedt, Oma Brendeland and Douglas Anfinson.

Palmer Leslie Halverson was born on a farm one mile east of Huxley Aug. 27, 1930. He was baptized by Rev. Buland, Oct. 26, the same year. He attended public school in Alleman for three and one-haf years and one and one-half years in Huxley, where he had just finished fifth grade. He attended Sunday school in Palestine church. On May 20th he became seriously ill and was taken to the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines. After some time there, he improved and was able to come home, but within a few days he became worse and had to be taken back to the hospital here all that medical skill could do, was done for him. He passed away quietly Thursday morning, June 6, 1941.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Margaret and six brothers, Gunder, Herbert, Adrian, Ole, Marion and Wayne, his aged grandfather, Gunder Eide of Slater and a host of other relatives and friends.
