THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, November 10, 2005.

Howard R. Welch, 89, of Ames and formerly of Perry died at the Arlington Nursing Home in Ames Wednesday, Nov. 9.

A 1 p.m. graveside service will be held on Friday, Nov. 11, at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. A memorial has been established to Red Cross International and contributions maybe be left at Murdock Funeral Home in Perry.

Howard was born in Bedford on Oct. 26, 1916. He was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Mantz on Dec. 31, 1938, in Des Moines. Howard lived in Perry and farmed for many years. He moved to Ames 30 years ago. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Perry.

Howard is survived by his son Joel of Winter Park, Fla., and a companion of many years, Evelyn Lilly of Ankeny.

Preceding Howard in death were his parents, his wife, his son Wayne, a brother, and sister.

Murdock Funeral Home in Perry is entrusted with the arrangements.
