Funeral Rites at Colo Methodist Church for Mrs. Geo. Thornton

Colo, Mar. 31--Funeral rites for Mrs. George Thornton, 42, who died at her home at State Center March 21, were held at the Methodist church in Colo with Elder A. L. Miller of the Seventh Day Adventist church, Nevada in charge. Interment as in the Colo cemetery.

The casket bearers were Jim Sager, Leslie Coughenour, Delbert Dickenson, Claude Dickenson, Merle Dickenson and Virgil McKinney, while the floral offerings which were many and beautiful, were cared for by Mrs. Dave Meier, Mrs. Bertha Stone and Mrs. Pearl Carry.

The following brief sketch of the life of the deceased was read during the service.

Anna Eunice Hunt was born in Ames, Aug. 27, 1898 the fourth child of William and Lenora Hunt. She departed this life Mar. 21, 1941, at the age of 42 years, 6 months and 24 days were spent at Ames.

She was married to George Thornton on Dec. 10, 1918. This young couple first made their home on a farm south of Colo, moving to State Center seven years ago, where the home has since been. To this union two children were born, Elden Ray and Robert Wayne.

She was a very loving wife and mother, always thinking of others before herself. During her long illness she showed rare patience and cheerfulness to the very last.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, who died in infancy.

Surviving are the husband, two sons, daughter-in-law, one grandchild and three sisters, Mrs. Beth Logsdon, Streator, Ill., Mrs. Dorothy Johnson, Siloam Springs, Ark., Mrs. Mae Thornton, Pasadena, Calif. and two brothers, Floyd Hunt, Beler, N. M.; and Ray Hunt of Hope, Ark.; and a step-mother Mrs. Wm. Hunt and two step-sisters, Mrs. George Gilmore and Mrs. A. H. Olsen, and many other relatives and a host of friends.
