Funeral Services for Late Fred Barrett at Eureka, Illinois
The body of the late Fred Barrett, 73, who died at the family country home 4 miles north of Nevada early Friday morning, accompanied by Mrs. Barrett, her son-in-law, Robert Dickinson, and the grandson, Robert Dickinson, Jr., left here early today for the old home a Eureka, Ill., where funeral services and burial will be held.
Mr. Dickinson and his son had arrived here early Friday upon receipt of the news of the death of Mr. Barrett.
The deceased had been identified with the horse shipping business out of Nevada since 1893 when he first came here with the late Harry Pincombe to buy horses. This continued until 1917 when he finally moved here from Eureka, Ill., and established his permanent home on a farm north of town.
He was a man of wide acquaintance not only in this part of the state but among horsemen circles all over the state and in Chicago and eastern markets.
Mr. Barrett will be buried either Sunday or Monday at Eureka, where his father, mother and brother are buried and where Mr. Barrett lived up until November, 1917, when he came to Nevada.
Due to the age and condition of health of Mrs. Barrett, it has been decided that the strain of having two funeral services for Mr. Barrett would be too much for her to go through and therefore there will be no funeral services held here for Mr. Barrett, as Mr. Barrett's relatives live largely in and around Eureka.
Mr. Barrett's immediate family and relatives regret very much that they are unable to hold funeral services here, where the deceased has lived for so long and has so many friends, and they sincerely hop that the people here will appreciate the situation and the reason why they are not holding services in Nevada.
