Floyd McHone Dies as Result of Gunshot Wound

Floyd McHone, 19, died at Mary Greeley hospital in Ames Monday as a result of accidental gunshot wounds sustained at his hoe over the line in Boone county, a week ago.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the church of Ontario and burial ill be in the Ontario cemetery.

Floyd was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. McHone, born in Colfax township, Boone county, January 1, 1921 and died in Mary Greeley hospital, Ames, October 14, 1940.

He leaves besides his parents, a sister Fern.

He graduated from the Jordan high school with the class of 1938, had worked on the farm with his father since and of late years had been an active member of the Story county Junior Farm Bureau.

He suffered the wound which proved fatal, while cleaning a gun, alone in his home a week ago. He was there for some time before he was found by an uncle, Raymond McHone of Napier.

The shot had punctured his stomach and he had since been in a serious condition.
