Mrs. Tom Torgerson Dies at Slater
Slater, Feb. 3--Mrs. Tom Torgerson, 67, died at her home in Slater Friday, from the effects of a stroke suffered several days ago and complications due to old age. Her husband died a year ago. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Eli Hendricksen, and a son, Alvin, both of Slater. A brother, Rasmus Anderson, on the west coast and several sisters in Norway where she grew to lady-
Anna Marie Anderson was born in Stavanger, Norway, Aug. 11, 1872, and died in Slater Feb. 2, 1940 at the age of 67 years, 5 months and 22 days. The earlier years of her life were spent in Norway where she grew to womanhood and where she was married to Thomas Torgerson. They came to this county in 1909 and made their home in Palestine township for a number of years. They lived on a farm south of Slater for a few years and then moved into Slater where they made their home in the southeast part of town in what was formerly known as the H. Auestad residence.
Funeral services will be held in the Palestine church, in charge of the pastor, Rev. H. Jacobson. Definite arrangements for the day of the funeral have not been set at the time, until they hear from a brother on the west coast.
