Mrs. Caroline Jensen
Caroline Tuttle Wastun Jensen was born at Marengo, Iowa, October 10, 1867. When about four years of age she, with her parents, came to Story county, and here she spent her childhood years and grew to womanhood. She was married to Elling Wastun in 1885, and to them were born five children, of whom four are now living. One son, George, died in 1918.
In 1906 the family moved from Story City to Humboldt where they resided until the husband and father of the family was taken by death in 1923. Since her aged father, Andrew Tuttle, needed the care of his daughter in his advanced years and feeble condition, she returned to Story City after her husband's death to minister to his needs as best possible.
On October 27, 1924, she was married to Ed Jensen of Story City. After ten years of married life her second husband was taken from her by death in 1934. She has made her home in Story City the past 17 years until her death Sept. 14, 1941, when she had attained the age of 73 years, 11 months and 4 days.
She is survived by three sons and one daughter. The sons are Harry Wastun of Story City, Elmer Wastun of Dakota City, Iowa; and Andrew Wastun of Eddyville, Nebr. The daughter is Ada Brakke of Winnebago, Minn. Besides these there are 13 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, and other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 18, at the home and in the Grace Evangelical church, conducted by Rev. G. L. Bergeman. Mrs. Everett Anderson sang two selections, with accompaniment on the organ by Vernon Anderson.
The casket bearers were six grandsons of the deceased, Hubert and Arnold Tuttle, and Adrian, Burdette, Verne and Everette Brakke. Interment was made in Fairview cemetery.
A large number of relatives were present, as were many of the neighbors and friends, to pay their last respects to a good mother and friend.
Present at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Brakke, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Brakke, Mr. and Mrs. Everette Brakke, Burdette Brakke, Marge Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Tuttle, all of Blue Earth, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tuttle of Elmore; Mr. and Mrs. Inmar Engleby and Mr. and Mrs. George Schaffe of Ledyard; Mrs. A. Grandle of Beauford, Miss.; Mrs. W. O. Ringemburg of Algona, and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Howard and daughter of Ft. Dodge.
