HANS O. HANSON FUNERAL IN ROLAND
Funeral services were held from the Salem church at Roland Saturday afternoon for H. O. Hanson, who passed away Wednesday evening. Services were in charge of his pastor, Rev. Olaf Holen, assisted by Rev. Bakke, a former pastor from McCallsburg. The pallbearers were S. Holland, C. E. Christian, Andrew Olson, J. J. Hill, W. W. Quam and Paul Pederson.
Hans O. Hanson was born Aug. 31, 1863, in Kvinherrad parish, Bergen, Norway, and passed away Sept. 25, 1940, at the Story City hospital, being 77 years and 26 days old at the time of his death.
His parents were Hans and Harbor Pederson-Skeie. At the age of 16 years he came to Lisbon, Ill., and after six years he came to Nevada.
On Sept. 17, 1898 he was married to Anna Jorgenson of Nevada. He followed the vocation of farming, living near Nevada 10 years and then in 1903 he purchased the farm near McCallsburg which became the family homestead.
Here they lived until 1936 when they retired and moved to Roland.
He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and six children, as follows: Hazel, Mrs. John Helland; Lyda, Mrs. George Herr; Mae, Mrs. Ralph Moore; Florence, Mrs. Dwight Oleson; and Harold and Earl Hanson.
He is also survived by nine grandchildren and one brother, Ole S. Hanson of Roland. He leaves one brother and two sisters in Norway.
