AGED CITIZEN IS LAID TO REST
Peter P. Boyd Passed Away at His Home Here Last Thursday Evening Following a Long Period of Illness
Peter P. Boyd, respected citizen of this community for 28 years, died at his home here Thursday evening, April 25th, having attained the age of 91 years, 4 months and 10 days. His death was due to the infirmities of his great age. For three months he had been confined to his bed, with no pain but a gradual seeping away of the vital life forces which thru his long life had given him such uniformly good health.
Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, at 1:30 at the home and 2 o'clock at the Immanuel church. Rev. Heimarck, so long his pastor here, officiated. He was assisted by Rev. H. P. Nordby of Baldwin, Wis., who is a son of Mr. Boyd's former pastor, the Rt. Rev. J. Nordby in Lee, Illinois.
Selections were rendered by the Immanuel choir, as also a duet by Mr. and Mrs. Otis Boyd of Roland, with Louise Olson at the organ. The pallbearers were six nephews of the deceased, namely, Peter Boyd of Sioux Falls, S. D., Peter Boyd of Lee, Ill., Arthur Boyd, of Stanhope, Severt Hammersland of Eagle Grove, Henry Brendeland of Radcliffe and George Edwards of Lee, Ill. Interment was made in the Story City cemetery.
Generous gifts were given in his memory to the local Immanuel church, to missions, the St. Olaf radio station, WCAL, Story City Sunset Home, and the Bethesda Home for the Aged in Chicago.
