OBITUARY

MRS. ERICK S. THORSSON

Mrs. Eric Thorson, nee Jertrude Vogen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jens Vogen, was born in Askrvig, Norway, on August 14, 1856, and passed away at the home of her daughter Mrs. John Hauge in Story City on December 8, 1939, at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 25 days.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church.

She immigrated to America in the year 1880 and settled in Kendall Co., Illinois. She was united in marriage to Eric S. Thorson on January 15, 1885 and to this union 8 children were born.

She is survived by 6 children, namely, Mrs. Cora Hauge, Mrs. Lillie Hauge, Thor Thorson, Milo Thorson, Ira Thorson, all of Story City and Mrs. Jessie Boyd of Northfield, Minn. Her husband and two children preceded her in death. Eugene dying at the age of 13 years and Thor in infancy.

She also leaves to mourn her death, 25 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Malla Tvedt of Haugsund, Norway and one brother Osmund Vogen of Rushford, Minn.

Mr. and Mrs. Thorson moved with their family from Illinois to Iowa in 1908 and settled on their farm near Randall, Iowa, where they lived until 1915 when they moved to Story City. They lived in their new home until her husband's death in 1919. After that she made her home with her children.

She had been in failing health for some time until death came to release her from her earthly sufferings. She was ready to meet her Saviour and she has only gone on before to await her beloved ones.

All her children, except Mrs. Boyd, were at her bedside when death came.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the John Hauge home at 1:30 and 2 o'clock in the Immanuel Lutheran church. Rev. Heimarck officiated, assisted by Rev. Anderson of Holdridge, Neb.

The pallbearers were 6 grandsons: Ollie Hauge, Chester Boyd, Julius Boyd, Oreal Thorson, Arlie Thorson and James Thorson.

Jurine Hunter, Telida and Marjorie Wing sang the "Old Rugged Cross" at the home and Mrs. Ben Anderson and Sara "We Shall Meet Him Face to Face" at the church. The remains were interred in Fairview cemetery beside her husband.

All of the sons and daughters, with their respective families, were present at the funeral.

Those from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Boyd and family, Ollie Hauge, Eric Wing and two daughters of Northfield, Minn., Osmund Vogen and daughter, Laura, Mrs. Highum and Mrs. Hamm of Rushford, Minn., Rev. and Mrs. Rudolph Anderson and daughter of Holdredge, Neb., Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wing of Gowrie, Lewis Hetland of Somers, Archie Hetland of Somers, Archie Hetland of Marshalltown and Mr. and Mrs. Milton Dobby of Huxley, Iowa.
