FINAL SERVICES FOR NEVADA WOMAN

LAST RITES FOR MRS. BURROUGHS HELD AT HOME HERE TODAY

Funeral services for Mrs. J. H. Burroughs, who died at her home on Eighth street early Wednesday were held at the home this afternoon at 2:30, with her pastor, the Rev. Geo A. Lawton of the Methodist Episcopal church in charge.

Numerous relatives from the eastern part of the state were here for the service and the home was filled with long-time neighbors and friends, there to pay a final tribute of earthly respect to one whom they had known long and loved so well.

During her nearly forty years of residence in Nevada, Mrs. Burroughs had been recognized as one of the leaders in the church and social affairs of the city and was loved and respected by all who knew her, and her death after an illness of less than a week, came as a distinct shock to the community.

Friday morning, the body, accompanied by the funeral party, is to be taken to Tipton, where interment will be in the Rider family lot in the Tipton cemetery.

Anna Mary Burroughs, wife of Joseph Hanley Burroughs, was born in Muscatine county, Iowa, on June 27, 1857.

Her parents, Christian E. and Rachel Rider, were pioneers in Iowa coming to the state in 1855 and settling in Cedar county.

Mrs. Burroughs received her education in Tipton, living in that place during her childhood days. She was married to Joseph H. Burroughs at Tipton, June 6, 1883 and lived there until April, 1892, when she and her husband came to Nevada and here their home has since been.

She passed from this earth Wednesday morning, June 3, 1931. Her immediate living relatives in addition to the husband, are a brother, James M. Rider of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Mrs. Harry L. Brotherlin of Tipton; three nieces, Mrs. Clyde Williams of Sheldon, Mrs. H. R. Treichler of Cedar Rapids, and Robert L. of Brotherlin of Boston a nephew.

She had been a member of the Methodist church since her coming to Nevada. She was also a member and active worker in the P. E. O. society and for many years had been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Nevada Public Library.
