Freeman Squires [sic] was born in Vermont, Sept. 27, 1824. Moved to Ohio with his parents when six years old and there married Alzina Robbins, Oct. of 1846. Moved to Story Co., Iowa, in 1857 and in Feb. 12, 1869 his loved one died leaving husband and five daughters to mourn their loss.

He married Sarah North in 1876, who died in 1893, since that time he has lived with his daughters, who still survive him. Mrs. Sheffield of Story City, Mrs. Wilkinson of Ames, Mrs. Hughes of Primghar, O'Brien Co., Mrs. Hamilton of Palouse, Wash., Mrs. Upton of Todd Co., Minn., where he died April 27, 1902.

The remains were brought to Story City, Wednesday, for burial. The services were held from the Evangelical church, Rev. D. J. McKay officiating.
