MRS. MARGARET ASK
Margaret Ask, daughter of John and Margaret Arneson of Decorah, died at the home of her son Rasmus in Story City on August 8.
She was born at Decorah on Jan. 21, 1864, being thus at the time of her death 75 years, 6 months and 17 days old. She was married to John R. Ask on Jan 23, 1884. Her husband died on Jan 17, 1933, since when she made her home with her son Rasmus.
She was the mother of eight sons, two of whom died in infancy. The six surviving sons are: Rasmus, Ingvald, Harry and Melvin of Story City, Leonard of Maxwell, and Roy of Webster City.
Mr. and Mrs. Ask had made their home in this community since their marriage. Mr. Ask was one of the pioneers of the Norwegian settlement here, coming in 1856 with his parents from Lisbon, Ill., when he was two years old.
Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon, Aug. 10, Rev. H. O. Oppedal officiating at the home and the church in the absence of Rev. Paulsrud. Interment was made in the Roland cemetery, where her husband and two children are buried. The six sons acted as pall bearers.
A devoted wife and mother has gone to her reward after a long life, leaving a memory of love and kindness with her children and all those who knew her.
