MRS. SEVERT NORDSKOG

Mrs. Bertha Nordskog was born in Skaaaleskog, Norway, on October 14, 1859. On August 18, 1878 he was united in marriage to Sivert Nordskog and they moved to Haugesund, Norway. One child was born to this union while they lived in Haugesund, but it died in infancy.

In the year 1880 she with her husband came to America, living in Sheldahl, Iowa, for a short time and then moved to Story City. In 1892 they moved to Eagle Grove, coming back to Story City in 1896 where they lived until 1912 when they moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where they lived until Mrs. Nordskog's death on March 2, 1937.

The cause of her death was heart trouble, and though she suffered untold agony from complications, it was not until the last few days that the seriousness of the disease was realized.

Surviving her are her husband, nine children, fourteen grandchildren and one great grand child, All nine children were present at the funeral.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 6 at 2 o'clock at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Los Angeles with Rev. Snesrud officiating in English and Rev. Fatness in Norwegian. The beautiful pipe organ music was furnished by Prof. Gunnerson. Robert Boyd sang the song "Mother," which was composed by her daughter, Yette Barber and which she dedicated to her mother on Mother's Day some years ago. Rev. Snesrud sand "Behold, A Host Arrayed in White" in the Norwegian language.

Mrs. Nordskog was a true Christian faithful to her church and it different organizations. She was especially interested in organizing and establishing the Solheim Old People's Home in Eagle Rock, Calif., and donated her services as matron during the first few month, when her delicate health would not allow her to continue. The Dorcas Society donated a sum of money to the Solheim Home in her memory. Donations were also sent to different missions in her memory.

Mrs. Nordskog was a home loving wife and mother, her greatest joy being in having her children and grandchildren in her midst. Five days preceding her death, eight of her children, who live in and around Los Angeles were called to her beside and on the day of her death asked all of her children to meet her in heaven. As she lived, she died. Blessed be her memory.

The nine children are: S. B. Nordskog, Cedar Falls, Iowa; Leonard Nordskog, A. A. Nordskog, Mrs. Yette Barber, Mabel Elvedahl and Lydia Myers, all of Los Angeles, Calif.; Josephine Alexander, Fullerton, Calif.; Julia Salisbury, Anaheim, Calif.; and Selma Froskland, Senora, California.
